2. Planning to learn
This badge is awarded to people who take the first step towards making their own learning plan.
In the activity for this badge you are going to create or update your own learning plan. The video below will guide you in doing this by explaining the meaning of a learning plan and showing you how to make and maintain one.
Where and how you keep track of your learning plan is up to you, but if you would like to use the template shown in the video then you can download it from the SSSC Learning Zone. Even if your employer keeps a record of this for you, it is important you keep your own personal up-to-date copy as well.
To earn this badge you will need to:
- watch our short video Planning to learn (4 minutes)
- tell us about how you intend to keep a record of your learning plan, how often you intend to update this and who you will involve to help you eg your manager, mentor etc (25 words minimum)
- tell us about the skills or capabilities you plan to develop over the next 12 months (75 words minimum).
- in your own words, tell us why maintaining your own learning plan might help you achieve these goals (50 words minimum).
- read and respond to this post about Planning to learn on the learning to learn discussion forum (optional activity).
Applications that do not meet these criteria or the prerequisites below will be returned.
You must achieve both the Getting started with Open Badges and Writing evidence for Open Badge applications badges before you apply for this one.
You will need to write a statement of at least 150 words or provide a link to an audio/video equivalent answering both questions asked in the criteria above. The evidence you provide will be viewable by anyone who you show your badge to, please do not include confidential or private information within your statement.
