Meaningful Connection: Supporting meaningful connection and why it is important
This badge is awarded to social service workers who have reflected on the Care Inspectorate webinar 'Supporting meaningful connection and why it is important' and the accompanying factsheet. Badge earners demonstrate commitment to their Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) and to enhancing their practice with a human rights-based approach in health and social care. This is one of a series of badges considering different aspects of meaningful connection.
This badge acknowledges the successful completion of a comprehensive learning activity centred around the ‘Supporting meaningful connection and why it is important’ webinar, hosted by the Care Inspectorate.
It signifies your dedication to understanding the nature and importance of meaningful connection and applying these principles and values to your practice. This approach is crucial to supporting people’s mental, emotional and physical health, wellbeing, personhood, and human rights. Holding this badge shows that you have demonstrated a deep understanding of these principles and strategies and have committed to incorporating them into your practice. You have also engaged in meaningful discussions with peers.
This badge is aimed at those working in adult services, particularly care homes however it may also be beneficial for those working in other services.
To achieve this badge you must:
- Watch the webinar ‘Supporting meaningful connection and why it is important‘ – As you watch, note down any particular concepts, strategies, information or insights that stand out to you. How do these relate to your current understanding and practice?
- Download and read the accompanying factsheet – Highlight key points in the factsheet that you find particularly informative or interesting. How do they complement what you’ve learned from the webinar?
- Use your notes from the webinar and factsheet to tell us about what you learned from the material and how you will apply this to your work. (200 words minimum).
- Discuss your experience using this resource with someone (e.g. a colleague or your line manager) and write a short note of this discussion (100 words minimum).
Your application will be returned to you with a request for further evidence if it does not meet all the above criteria.
There are no prerequisites for this badge however we recommend you achieve both the Getting started with Open Badges and Writing evidence for Open Badge applications badges before applying for this one.
You will need to submit a written statement, of at least 300 words in response to the questions asked in the criteria. You can write your statement directly on the badge application form or paste a link to your own blog or portfolio.
We will also accept an audio or video submission if you prefer.
The evidence you submit will be viewable by anyone who you show your badge to. Do not include confidential or private information within your submission.
