Carer aware in the workplace
This Open Badge will be awarded to people who attend and take part in a Carer Aware in the Workplace session for staff within the Scottish Social Services Council, NHS Education Scotland and the Care Inspectorate.
The sessions raise awareness of carers within workplaces and recognise that employees with a caring role must feel supported and valued. Participation in a Carers at Work session helps employees and line managers to feel confident in sharing their details around their caring roles within a supportive organisation. For those who are not in a caring role, the session raises awareness and allows them to develop their practice to make sure carers feel supported and valued.
Attendees at one of these sessions will:
- be more aware of carers and young carers
- have an insight into the impact of caring
- recognise the relevance of carers to workforce activities within SSSC/Care Inspectorate/NES
- have increased awareness of carers in the workplace and how to support them
- understand the EPiC Core Principles for Working with Carers and Young Carers.
To earn this badge you will need to:
- attend and participate in a Carer at Work session
- tell us how you plan to put what you learned into practice and share your learning with colleagues.
None. This badge does not require you to have any other badges.
You will need to provide a short written statement, up to 100 words, on how you plan to put what you learned into practice and share your learning with colleagues. You can provide the statement on the badge application form or provide a link to your own blog/portfolio.
If you want to use a blog or ePortfolio entry as evidence, you might find our guide to preparing and publishing your evidence useful. Remember, the evidence you provide will be viewable by anyone who you show your badge to.
Please don’t include confidential or private information within your statement.
