4. Learning in a networked world
This badge is awarded to people who complete the fourth module of the SSSC’s digital learning design programme and demonstrate their understanding of how online tools, resources and apps can be used to support both formal and informal learning.
This badge provides evidence of how you were able to use the connectivity offered by the worldwide web and the different tools and platforms that run on the web to help to connect information and individuals to support both formal and informal networked learning.
One of the key bits of added value in digital learning is the ability to form connections online with you wider learning community. The materials for module will explore personal learning networks, building learning communities, social learning, developing skills in online teaching, facilitation and support and peer support.
This is the fourth badge in our Digital Learning Design programme.
To earn this badge, you must:
- complete our free Learning in a networked world module (7 hours minimum)
- organise and manage a group of learners, to take part in an online seminar hosted and run by you on a topic of your choice
- develop a plan for the seminar using one of the templates provided in the module and attach this as evidence (5 hours minimum)
- host and moderate the session (1 hour minimum)
- ask participants to evaluate the experience using the micro-teaching evaluation template included in the module
- submit a written account of the session which includes a description of the event, your reflections on the experience and thoughts about the feedback you received. (1,000 words minimum)
Applications which do not adequately demonstrate these criteria will be returned.
You must hold the Getting Started, Writing Evidence and Moving Learning Online open badges before you can apply for this one.
You should provide a written account of the session of at least 1,000 words that includes a description of the planned event and your reflections on the experience. You should attach all the documentation described in the criteria above to this account.
