Privacy notice

Our data protection and privacy notice provides details of your rights in relation to data processing, including the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner.

Information we hold

  • Personal details.
  • Evidence submitted to Open Badges.

Lawfulness for processing

The processing of personal data is necessary for the SSSC to assess the evidence that users submit to Open Badges. This allows us to issue Open Badges where users meet the required criteria for an award.

Issuing Open Badges helps the SSSC to assist with the training and development of the social services workforce. This is one of our statutory functions.

The SSSC may review the evidence submitted to Open Badges in order to understand what themes, if any, are emerging across the social service workforce.  Individual participants will be unidentifiable throughout this process.

The SSSC is relying on Article 6(1)(e) of the General Data Protection Regulations as its lawful basis for processing this this data.

Information sharing

We share this information with the third parties who provide our information systems and process this information on our behalf.

Change of purpose

We will only use your personal data for the purposes for which we collected it, unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for another reason that is compatible with our original purpose.

If we need to use your personal data for an unrelated purpose, we will notify you and explain the legal basis which allows us to do so.

We may process your personal data without your knowledge or consent, in compliance with GDPR, where this is required or permitted by law.

Retention

The personal information we collect through our Open Badges system will be retained until the user deletes their badges and/or account. User accounts which have not been accessed for 10 years will be deleted.  Users will be informed in advance of this by email and will be given an opportunity to reactivate their account.

For information on how to delete your account, please see this video. This is in line with our published Retention Schedule.
