ELC Thing 1 – Why is everyday leadership important
Scotland’s social services need effective leadership at all levels of the workforce, as well as citizen leadership from people who access support and their carers. The vision for leadership at all levels in social services means that everyone has a leadership role to play.
This badge is awarded to people who have:
- worked through Thing 1: Why is everyday leadership important?
- provided evidence of their learning through reflective writing.
This is part of the 23 Things ELC Leadership programme.
To earn this badge you must:
- Work through Thing 1 of 23 Things ELC Leadership
- Write a reflective account using your experience in work with children and young people (such as ELC, residential childcare, or other similar area) of at least 200 words.
Before you submit applications and evidence for any of the 23 Things ELC Leadership Open Badges, it is recommended that you achieve these two Open Badges first:
Watch the 6 minute video on Everyday Leadership from Drew Dudley and consider how you recognise and reward everyday leadership in your workplace and reflect on the lollipop moments in your life.
Write at least 200 words that cover your thoughts about the above and how you think you demonstrate leadership skills in your daily work. Part of your record should include an example of where you’ve made a difference to people.
