1. OSS Why Digital
This badge is awarded to people who demonstrate their understanding of the importance of good online safety and security practices in the workplace and basic steps that can be taken to keep themselves, the people who use their services and their organisation safe and secure online.
In a continuously evolving digital world, it has never been so important that social service employers and the workforce are suitably equipped to remain safe and secure online, whilst developing its digital capabilities.
You can earn this badge by demonstrating your understanding of the importance of good online safety and security practices in the workplace and basic steps that can be taken to keep yourself, the people who use your services and your organisation safe and secure online.
This is one of eight badges that contribute towards the Online safety and security badge.
To be awarded this badge, you must:
- download and complete the Why digital handout
- discuss your completed worksheet with your manager, team or tutor and tell us something about this discussion (50 words minimum)
- tell us about three things you learned from these activities and why this is important to you and your practice (150 words minimum).
Your application will be returned to you with a request for further evidence if it does not meet all the above criteria.
You must hold the Getting started with Open Badges and Writing evidence for Open Badge applications badges before applying for this one.
You will need to submit a written statement, of at least 200 words in response to the questions asked in the criteria. You can write your statement directly on the badge application form or paste a link to your own blog or portfolio.
We will also accept an audio or video submission if you prefer.
The evidence you submit will be viewable by anyone who you show your badge to. Do not include confidential or private information within your submission.
Read Preparing and publishing your evidence to find out more about what’s required and increase your chances of getting your badge approved first time.
