We will award this Open Badge to people who demonstrate the knowledge and skills required by workers who might come into contact with people who have palliative and care needs, during the last days of life.
We will award this Open Badge to people who demonstrate the knowledge and skills required by workers who might come into contact with people who have palliative and care needs, during the last days of life.
The Enriching and Improving Experience Framework identifies the knowledge and skills required by all workers who might come into contact with people who have palliative and end of life care needs. The framework has five domains and this badge reflects the core knowledge and skills considered integral to the delivery of high quality Care in the last days of life at the Informed level.
Each domain presents four levels of knowledge and skills outlining what workers need to know and do. The levels of knowledge and skills workers need may differ across the five domains depending on their degree of involvement in palliative and end of life care; and their responsibilities in caring for and supporting people, their families and carers.
To earn this badge, you will need to:
- complete pages 48 to 53 of the Informed about palliative and end of life care workbook
- in your own words, tell us about your understanding of what empathy means and the differences between this and sympathy (75 words minimum)
- in your own words, tell us about your understanding of the changing needs of an individual and their families during the last days of life and what your own thoughts and feelings might be as you care for them (75 words minimum)
- discuss what you have learned with your manager/supervisor/colleagues and tell us what you agreed was important to the service and the people who use your service (25 words minimum).
