SCMA Childminders: GIRFEC into Practice
This Open Badge is awarded to childminders who demonstrate and understanding of the Getting it Right for Every Child Framework and how this is put into practice.
GIRFEC is the national approach in Scotland to improving outcomes and supporting the wellbeing of children and young people by offering the right help at the right time from the right people. It supports them and their parent(s) to work in partnership with the services that can help them. Childminders are required to use the GIRFEC approach to ensure the way they support children, young people and their
parents is consistent and effective.
This Open Badge is awarded to childminders who demonstrate and understanding of the Getting it Right for Every Child Framework and how this is put into practice.

Read the criteria carefully before submitting your statement, as your application will be declined if you don’t cover all of it within your evidence. Submit your statement using the badge application form below
Use each point from the badge criteria as a heading. This will help you structure your evidence. Write something for each point in the criteria eg if you are asked to work through a learning resource, you might say “I worked through the resource for half-an-hour each day between Monday 1 April and Friday 5 April and spoke to another childminder or professional about my responses to the exercises within it”. Stick to the criteria and don’t mention anything that isn’t relevant to it.
Remember, the evidence you provide will be viewable by anyone who you show your badge to. Please don’t include confidential or private information within your evidence.
