This badge will help you to show what you have learned from the Communication and relationships in care settings chapter of the Communications and Relationships ebook in the Foundations for Practice series. It is one of three badges required to gain the Communications and Relationships milestone open badge.
Communication and relationships are fundamental to ensuring good outcomes for people who you care for and support. This badge will help you to provide evidence that you know, understand and can apply the principles of developing and maintaining communication and relationships in care settings that are at the core of best practice. You will need to read the Communication and relationships in care settings chapter of the Communications and Relationships ebook before you can apply for this badge.
To get this badge you must:
- complete the activities in the Communication and relationships ebook in care settings chapter and include what you wrote in your notes as evidence for this badge
- think about your own communication skills
- write a reflective account of not less than 150 words explaining how you use your skills in your caring role (this can include non-professional care and support)
- write a short reflective account of at least 100 words explaining what you think your strengths are in communicating with people, and aspects of your communications skills that could be developed to promote better communication in your role.
You must achieve the Writing evidence for Open Badge applications badge before you apply for this one.
You will need to submit written statements in response to the questions asked in the criteria.
You can write your statements directly on the badge application form or paste a link to your own blog or portfolio. You also need to attach your note for the activity detailed in chapter two of the ebook. We will also accept short audio or video statements if you prefer these formats.
Remember, anyone who you show your badge to can view the evidence you provide. Please don’t include confidential or private information in your statements.
