4. Staying secure online self assessment
This Open Badge is awarded to people who have completed a self-assessment exercise about staying secure online. They will have been recommended learning resources based on their responses and written about how they learned from these materials and improved their security habits.
Cyber security isn’t only for people who work in IT or might be good with computers. It’s everyone’s responsibility – including yours. When cyber criminals target you, your family or workplace then you become the last and best line of defence. You also have a role to play in making sure the information and memories you store digitally aren’t lost due to technical breakdowns or disasters like fire or flooding.
It can be difficult to know where to start, so we created an online self-assessment tool to help you understand your risk and to recommend the learning materials which will be most useful to you.
To achieve this Open Badge you must:
- complete the staying secure online self-assessment exercise and download a copy of your results and recommendations
- work through the learning materials we recommend to you
- in the evidence box below, tell us how what you learned will contribute to your approach to keeping yourself and others secure and give examples of what you will now do or do differently because of this learning (200 words minimum)
- in the evidence box below, tell us about at least one thing you will do to encourage others to achieve this badge (25 words minimum).
Do not attach a copy of your results to your badge application. These should remain confidential.
None. This badge does not require you to hold any other badges.
You will need to provide at least 225 words in response to the questions you were asked in the criteria for this badge. Make sure you clearly indicate which question you are responding to in each part of your evidence submission.
If you want to use a blog or ePortfolio entry as evidence, you might find our guide to preparing and publishing your evidence useful. We will also accept audio or video statements if you prefer these formats.
Please remember, the evidence you provide will be viewable by anyone who you show your badge to. Do not include confidential or private information within your statement.
