Maintaining your learning and development: Becoming a reflective learner
This badge is linked to chapter two of the SSSC ebook Maintaining your learning and development and focuses on your learning from the section on becoming a reflective learner.
The SSSC ebook, Maintaining your learning and development explores various aspects of the knowledge and skills you will need in order to continue to develop and learn new things and continue to be an effective social service worker.
This learning resource has been designed to enable you develop knowledge to promote good practice in all your work, you may find it particularly helpful if you are undertaking, or about to undertake, a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Social Services and Healthcare. In conjunction with the other apps in this series, it contributes to knowledge that you will require to complete SVQs.
We know that the most effective learning we do is learning we apply in the real world as soon as possible. So, in this eBook, most of the activities will ask you to carry out tasks in your workplace and discuss the outcomes with your supervisor/assessor/mentor and/or line manager and enable you to create evidence you can use here to claim this badge.
To complete this badge you will need to:
- write a short account to explain how you will use the knowledge gained from this chapter in your practice in future (100 words minimum).
We will decline applications that do not provide enough evidence showing how you have met these criteria.
You must achieve the Writing evidence for Open Badge applications badge before you apply for this one.
You will need to submit a written statement, of at least 100 words in response to the questions asked in the criteria. You can write your statement directly on the badge application form or paste a link to your own blog or portfolio. You also need to copy and paste or attach your note for the activity on “Trying out reflection” from the ebook.
We will also accept short audio or video statements if you prefer these formats.
Remember, anyone who you show your badge to can see the evidence you provide. Please don’t include confidential or private information in your statements.
Read Preparing and publishing your evidence to find out more about what’s required and increase your chances of getting your badge approved first time.
