Positive Behaviour Support #4 – Good communication
This badge relates to chapter 4 - 'Good communication' of the Positive Behaviour Support e-Book.
This badge relates to chapter 4 of the Positive Behaviour Support e-Book which introduces the importance of good communication when providing support to people with learning disabilities. It will give a description of what communication is and then describe the standards for good communication.
The aim of the chapter is that you learn about the principles of good communication and are able to think about how to use this in practice with people you support.”
To be awarded this badge, you must:
Based on your answers to the learning activity about the Five Good Communication Standards, make a note of the following:
- How could you improve how you support the person with their communication? Try to think of at least 3 specific things that you as an individual could do differently.
- How could the team support the person better with their communication? Write some ideas for things that you think the team could do better.
- How might better communication impact on any behaviours that challenge?
Discuss your ideas with a colleague and ask for their comments. Note their comments and feedback here.
