Principles of care: Equality and diversity
This badge will help you to show what you have learned from the Equality and diversity chapter of the Principles of Care ebook in the Foundations for Practice series. It is one of five badges required to gain the Principles of Care milestone open badge.
It is important that we all recognise and respect the equality and diversity of people who we care for and support. This badge will help you to provide evidence that you know, understand and can apply in practice the principles of upholding equality and diversity that are at the core of best practice. You will need to read the Equality and diversity chapter of the Principles of Care ebook before you can apply for this badge
To get this badge you must:
- complete the activities in the Equalities and diversity chapter of the ebook and include what you wrote in your notes as evidence for your badge
- think about how equality and diversity relate to your role
- using the information in this chapter, write a short reflective account of a minimum of 150 words to explain why it is important you must always promote these. You may want to use examples to show your understanding. If you do, please make sure you anonymise these
- write a short reflective account of a minimum of 100 words to explain how you will use the knowledge you gained from this chapter in your practice in future.
We will return applications that do not provide enough evidence showing how you have met these criteria.
You must achieve the Writing evidence for Open Badge applications badge before you apply for this one.
You will need to submit written statements in response to the questions asked in the criteria.
You can write your statements directly on the badge application form or paste a link to your own blog or portfolio. You also need to attach your note for the activity detailed in chapter four of the ebook. We will also accept short audio or video statements if you prefer these formats.
Remember, anyone who you show your badge to can view the evidence you provide. Please don’t include confidential or private information in your statements.
