Leadership Thing 12 – Challenging oppressive practice
Scotland’s social services need effective leadership at all levels of the workforce and everyone has a leadership role to play. Self-leadership is about recognising your own leadership skills and abilities, and taking responsibility for using and developing these. Self-leadership also includes responding to and challenging discriminatory or oppressive practice.

To earn this badge you must:
- Work through Thing 12 of 23 Things for Leadership.
- Write a reflective account of at least 200 words.

You may also find it helpful to complete Things 1-4 before starting Thing 12.
Complete all of the the activities as described in Thing 12 – ‘Responding to, and challenging, discriminatory or oppressive practice’ and write a statement (minimum 200 words) reflecting on the two examples given and consider the questions in Thing 12.
