ELC Thing 2 – Leadership/Management
Management and leadership qualities often overlap but there are distinct differences in the skills that each one requires. It is important to understand the difference between the two.
This badge is awarded to people who have:
- worked through Thing 2: Leadership and management — what’s the difference?
- provided evidence of their learning through reflective writing.
This is part of the 23 Things ELC Leadership programme.
To earn this badge you must:
- work through Thing 2 of 23 Things ELC Leadership
- write an account of at least 200 words.
We will decline Open Badge applications without a completed reflective activity.
Before you submit applications and evidence for any of the 23 Things ELC Leadership Open Badges, it is recommended that you achieve these two Open Badges first:
Getting started with Open Badges
Writing evidence for Open Badge applications
You may find it helpful to complete Thing 1 before starting Thing 2.
After using the Leadership/Management resource to help you think about which activities are associated with leadership or management, think about your role and a situation where you play a significant part in achieving a positive outcome. Write a statement (minimum 200 words) about:
- where you see management skills being used
- the leadership you or others show
- where both management and leadership skills overlap
