ELC Thing 23 – How can I use leadership development to support my career development?
There are a range of standards for various groups in the workforce which relate to leadership and management. All of these standards can be, and are, used to underpin leadership development activity and qualifications. You can also use them to help you guide your leadership development which in turn supports your career development.
This badge is awarded to people who have:
- worked through Thing 23: How can I use leadership development to support my career development?
- provided evidence of their learning through reflective writing.
This is part of the 23 Things ELC Leadership programme.
To earn this badge you must:
- worked through Thing 23 of 23 Things ELC Leadership
- provided evidence of learning through reflective writing.
We will decline Open Badge applications without a completed reflective activity.
Before you submit applications and evidence for any of the 23 Things ELC Leadership Open Badges, it is recommended that you achieve these two Open Badges first:

You may also find it helpful to complete Things 1 – 4 before starting Thing 23.
Write at least 200 words, reflecting on either:
a) a learning activity you have completed recently, big or small — and consider which leadership capabilities you developed via this learning and how you developed them.
or
b) a qualification you have completed or are completing currently – this could be a qualification you completed to support your registration with the SSSC or a qualification you have undertaken/are undertaking to support your career development. Use the resources in the Standards and Qualifications section to help you consider which leadership capabilities you developed or are developing via this learning and how.
