Getting started with Open Badges
How to issue Open Badges
We are currently transitioning our approach to Open Badges, a move that will simplify our offering and open recognition beyond the current limited range of topics and learning opportunities. As a result, we are no longer creating new badges for other organisations. However, we are committed to supporting our stakeholders interested in Open Badges in several ways:
Specialist advice: We can offer advice on setting up your own Open Badges projects, including guidance on badge design, assessment, and quality assurance. We focus on helping you think about the big picture and strategic implementation of Open Badges.
Free resources: We provide access to a range of resources to support you with digital learning design:
- our podcast episodes, webinars and events on badges and digital learning design
- existing support materials, such as our learning design modules
- guidance on badge design and implementation best practices.
Existing SSSC badges: We can provide resources to help you direct SSSC registrants to our CPL or CPL+ badges. This includes graphics and text you can use to promote these badges within your learning resources.
SSSC Learning Zone: If appropriate, we can list your learning materials on the SSSC Learning Zone, increasing their visibility to our registrants.
If you want to create Open Badges for your organisation, we recommend exploring various issuing platforms. IMS Global’s Open Badges website has a list of these.
