3. PEOLC: Loss, grief and bereavement (Informed level)
We will award this Open Badge to people who demonstrate their knowledge and skills around effective Loss, grief and bereavement at the Informed level. This is integral to supporting and improving palliative and end of life care service provision.
The Enriching and Improving Experience Framework identifies the knowledge and skills required by all workers. It acknowledges the potential impact of living and working with loss and recognises the importance of appropriate support for self and others.
The framework has five domains, each domain presents four levels of knowledge and skills outlining what workers need to know and do. The levels of knowledge and skills workers need may differ across the five domains depending on their degree of involvement in palliative and end of life care; and their responsibilities in caring for and supporting people, their families and carers.
To earn this badge, you will need to:
- complete pages 28 to 37 of the Informed about palliative and end of life care workbook
- in your own words, tell us about your understanding of how people react to loss, grief and bereavement (75 words minimum)
- in your own words, tell us what support you have in your work, from colleagues and outside of work that helps you feel healthy and well (75 words minimum)
- discuss your organisational support mechanisms which are available for you, your colleagues and people who receive your services around loss, grief and bereavement now and opportunities for the future with your manager/supervisor/colleagues
- describe what you will do to improve the outcomes of people receiving your service (50 words minimum).
