Foot Care in Care Settings – CPR for Feet
CPR for Feet is a campaign to ensure that at risk patients do not develop an avoidable foot ulcer during their stay in hospital and those who are admitted to hospital with a current foot ulcer or gangrene are referred appropriately. People across Scotland are still developing potentially avoidable ulcers while in hospital. The CPR for feet campaign highlights the importance of checking feet, protecting at risk feet and referring to appropriate health care professionals if an active problem is detected.
Although the CPR for feet campaign was designed for those admitted to hospital; the learning and application of advice contained within this module can be applied in other settings where supportive care is provided to vulnerable people e.g. at home, in a care home etc.
Familiarising yourself with this campaign and the application of monitoring will help prevent foot ulcers.
