Music Therapy in Care Settings – Music therapy introduction
This badge is aimed at people who are working within social care in care homes, care at home and unpaid carers who are supporting people who are living with dementia at home. It may be useful for anyone looking to learn more about music therapy and its role in dementia, as well as healthcare staff who may be considering working in dementia in the future.
While these approaches have been developed for working with people who are living with dementia, the evidence demonstrates that they are effective in working with all people, including those with acquired brain injury, stroke, or those who do not suffer any conditions of cognitive decline.
To achieve this badge, you must:
- Work through the Connecting with Music section of the NHS Lothian Art Psychotherapies website.
- Tell us three things you have learned and how you can implement this in your practice. (150 words minimum)
- Discuss what you have learned with someone (e.g. line manager or colleague) and make a short note of this discussion. (50 words minimum).
