A risk worth taking: scenario two
This Open Badge is awarded to people who work through the second scenario of our interactive risk resource and complete a reflective account to demonstrate their learning.
We developed the resource to help people think about:
- what risk means
- where their attitude around risk comes from; and
- other people’s perceptions of risk.
People from across health and social care can use the resource collaboratively to gain a better understanding of themselves as individuals and also about each other’s organisation. There are three scenarios to work through. Each scenario includes views from different professionals and how they would deal with the risk factors covered in the scenario.
Before applying for this badge you will need to:
- complete the self-evaluation questions
- work through the I’m worried about Mo scenarioand discuss the activity questions below with your colleagues or manager, preferably as part of a group discussion (60 minutes)
- Are there cultural issues influencing this situation?
- What alternative and appropriate translation options would there be?
- What impact could previously being a drug user have on someone’s caring role and capacity?
- How does the carer know that Mo is on a methadone programme?
- Thinking about the scenario which includes different perspectives of level of risk, making judgements, cultural issues and the need to protect adults and children, tell us about three things you have learned, using the questions below to support you:
- What are the risks of not doing anything in this situation?
- How has your definition of risk changed or been challenged?
- Who do you need to speak with to do things differently? (minimum 200 words).
- Tell us how the discussion you had with your manager or colleagues helped you to think about what you might do differently in the future (minimum 100 words).
Applications for this badge that don’t demonstrate the criteria or fall below the minimum word count will be declined.
